Hand-printed on a Victorian Albion Press | A2 block on A1 Art Print Paper | Mono-print
A graphic celebration of colour, Folkestones West End and hand-carved detail.
Vibrant orange-peach block colour, offsets the teal-blue key block of the Folkestone West Montage. Featuring The Leas, The Grand Hotel, the Zig Zag Path, and the historic Bandstand, this linocut is a love letter to the western stretch of Folkestone’s clifftop that hugs the coastline.
Every detail—down to the last balustrade and windowpane—has been carved and printed entirely by hand over four months in my open studio on Folkestone’s Old High Street. The double-layered print combines bold architectural forms with a strong, graphic colour block.
Full Description
Step into a seaside montage full of Edwardian charm with my Folkestone West Sunset Linoprint—a richly detailed linocut celebrating some of Folkestone’s most iconic scenes. From the curved grace of The Leas promenade to the striking silhouette of The Grand Hotel, each element has been lovingly carved by hand, then printed in layers of oil-based ink using a Victorian Albion press.
The first layer blocks colour and warmth; the second captures the graphic detail in teal-blue. Together, they evoke both the atmosphere and architecture of this much-loved coastal town.
This piece draws inspiration from traditional British printmaking, nodding to classic railway posters while celebrating the slowness and tactility of hand-carved work. Designed and printed in a live studio setting, it’s a deeply personal print—for lovers of place, craft, and coastal light.
