Hand-printed on a Victorian Albion Press | A2 block on A1 art paper | Edition of 20 | Selling fast
A celebration of clifftop grandeur and hand-carved tradition.
A detailed linocut montage of Folkestone’s western landmarks—The Leas, The Grand Hotel, the Zig Zag Path and the historic Bandstand—carved and printed entirely by hand.
Crafted over four months in my open studio on Folkestone’s Old High Street, this monochrome print is a loving tribute to the spirit of the British seaside—nostalgic, graphic, and deeply personal. Printed using a Victorian Albion printing press, this edition of 20 captures both the architecture and atmosphere of a cherished stretch of Kent coastline.
Full Description
Step into a layered landscape of seaside elegance and Edwardian charm with Folkestone West Montage—a black-and-white linocut celebrating one of the most iconic corners of Folkestone. From the curved sweep of The Leas promenade to the grandeur of The Grand Hotel, every detail has been carved by hand over more than 70 hours, then printed using oil-based ink on A1 art paper.
Each impression is hand-pulled on a Victorian Albion press, offering a striking physical depth and timeless printmaking texture. The montage draws influence from British landscape print traditions, evoking echoes of classic railway posters while maintaining a modern graphic rhythm.
Created in a live studio setting, this piece embodies the slowness and beauty of traditional craft. It is a linoprint for lovers of place, poetry, and printmaking.
