Shared Bodies
Hand-printed linocut | Double-layer print | Edition of 50 | Pre-order Summer 2026

A celebration of connection, resilience and the shared experiences that shape us.

Shared Bodies is a double-layered linocut exploring identity, community and the strength found in coming together.

The original blocks were created in 2023 for Take Up Space, a project developed as part of International Women's Day, where the carved forms were used to print and collage a collective artwork celebrating women and non-binary people.

The blocks were later revisited and brought together as a complete composition for the first time in Winter 2025, inspired by the theme "Sick of It: Inequality" and conversations around reproductive health, invisible pain and the experiences of living in bodies that are often misunderstood or overlooked.

The final print brings together the complexity of those experiences — the frustration and anger of inequality alongside the joy, strength and wonder found in connection, friendship and community.

Full Description

Shared Bodies is built from two hand-carved lino blocks, layered together to create a striking red and black composition.

The interlocking forms reflect the way our experiences overlap — as individuals, as communities and through the shared realities of our bodies. The jigsaw-like structure of the blocks allows separate shapes to come together as one, symbolising both individuality and collective strength.

The first layer is printed in oil-based red ink, creating the foundation of the composition. The second black layer adds definition, contrast and movement, bringing the carved forms together into a single visual language.

Originally created for a collaborative community project, the work has evolved over several years into a standalone linoprint. It carries the marks of that original collective experience while becoming a personal reflection on resilience, equality and belonging.

Printed by hand in my Folkestone studio using a glass brayer, each impression holds the subtle variations and character that come from traditional relief printing.
